Wilson Combats new Polymer...

What were they thinking? Taking an unpopular, unsuccessful, design and marketing in even more expensive than before just because thier name is on it. Not smart. Kimber at least created something that looks new, not a rehashed cheap gun.

I like the fact that it only comes with night sights.
If am handgunner says to clean it every 50 rounds it must have been pretty bad. Since the rags hate to give a negative review.
I will stick with my g27.

I bought one a few months ago to carry during the hot S Carolina summer months. I'm .357 magnum guy, but my SS beauty is a little too bulky to hide under a tee shirt and pair of shorts. I handled and tested a plethora of sub compacts before deciding on the ADP.

It aint purty and it's plastic, but it shoots straight, fits in my back pocket in a Galco pocket holster, and has never failed me on the range. I've put 100+ rounds through it on several trips to the range and it never failed due to needing cleaning- though it was cleaned as soon as I got home. During shooting sessions, I found that it operated smoother the more it was fired.

If you have chance to put a few rounds through one, give it a try. You just might like it.

(I found that by filing off the pinky grip extension on the magazine, it becomes a lot easier to conceal and also camoflauges the some of the fugliness)

...it features a unique gas retard....

LOL...they didn't really put that in writing, did they? Their marketing people should be shot. They could have come up with a better phrase than "gas retard" to describe the action. It makes it sound like someone who rides the short bus!

I have to say this gun is my favorite right now.

When I first bought it and took it to the range, I noticed the trigger had to be pressed all the way to the back to the point where the bottom of the trigger hits the trigger guard. Obviously not good.

Finally sent it in and they told me the spring inside was collapsing blah blah i didn't really understand. They sent it back and it works so great. I am eagerly awaiting my concealed weapon permit so I can carry it.

This gun GETS DIRTYYYYYYYY.
DIRTY DIRTY DIRTY DIRTY.

So if you hate cleaning, don't get one. Even though it gets dirty, it never fails to feed after putting over 100 rounds through it.

Also... HOT. You will burn your finger if it gets too close to the small port hole in the bottom of the frame.

This gun, in my opinion, is 100% a result of taking the phrase "form follows function" and putting it into a product. The function: a concealable, backup, accurate, high capacity (for a small gun), simple, normal caliber firearm. It's thin, it fits in your hand, it shoots straight.... what more can you ask for.

I never knew that being pretty was a requirement for people to carry a CONCEALED weapon. When you take out a concealed weapon, no one is really going to care what it looks like... and the person you are intentionally showing it to will only be seeing the front of the barrel.

I'm sticking up for this ugly little b_stard because it rocks. The funny thing is that when I first saw it, I actually liked how it looks.

Oh well... at least my taste in girls is better.

That Heritage Stealth makes me cry. The ADP looks blocky, but not bad - no worse than a Glock :neener:

Very interesting placement of the safety.

I played with one at a local gun shop. The thing had the worst trigger that I ever pulled in my life. I can’t believe that Wilson is putting his logo on that piece of garbage.

I recently handled one, and it actually made the KelTec PF9 seem substantive and refined by comparison.

Is it grossly overpriced like the rest of their stuff?

The price was inline with what a production grade polymer pistol should be. Like rbernie said, it makes a Keltec look like a custom handgun. I can’t think of one modern polymer pistol that I have less interest in that this thing. I have Wilson 1911s and think that they are great. Thier customer service can't be beat. I just don't know why they want to sell this gun.

Amazing!

Amazing!

My hats off to George Hill and gte217e. Sixty-one posts and they were the only ones I found who had actually fired the ADP and spent any time with it. Most seemed to be primarily focused on appearance. Those negative posts would make sense if the ADP and the CQB cost about the same, but they don’t.

What happened to “Form Follows Function” and “Beauty Is As Beauty Does” when discussing a life saving, fight stopping handgun?

When we wrote a solicitation for 16,000 semi-automatic handguns for our agency, appearance was not one of the criteria.

I just watched a DVD from Wilson Combat and there's a segment with Bill Rogers shooting an ADP one handed on his range. Very nice shooting. In fact, it looked like his one hand run with the ADP was better than his two handed run with the CQB. Interesting.

Kent

Howdy Tecumseh. Thanks for the response.

Actually, I was doing a search for ADP to see if anyone had experience with it and frankly didn't check the date.

Reading those posts kinda reminded me of how folks might respond if Mercedes came out with a low priced model to compete with the Kia Rio. I understand it, but can in no way identify with it.

OK. I have to thank everyone for resurrecting htis thread. My brother just found one of these in his gunshop, NIB for $450. Since I just got my CCW and was looking for a concealed carry gun, he picked it up for me, not knowing it's history.

So, bottom line....do I need to send him back to the shop to return it, or do I listen to the couple of threads that say the trigger is great and so is the accuracy for a sub-compact 9mm? What is the reality for this pistol, now that the forum has had a year or two to evaluate it??

Thanks.
Bruce
