I have 5 lbs of 748 so I will be working up some loads using Hornady 55 gr FMJ and Sierra 69 gr Match Kings.

I will be shooting these reloads through my Colt Commando 6933 AR with an 11 1/2" Barrel.

WTK has anyone worked up any loads with this combo for a 11 1/2" barrel and/or any other length AR SBR loads?

Thanks

Not my first choice, it will work but the blast will suxk.
I would be looking at H322, maybe RE7 maybe some others in the faster rifle burn range. I think my carbine load with an M193 over about a start load of H322 will do pretty good.

N555, what was the length of your barrel?

I will look at other powders but right now I need burn through the 5 lbs of 748. I may try 308 and 30-06 using some 748.
748 is great in 308 with 125g bullets at the top of the load data, don't thinkyou can put too much in there in a bolt gun.

Right now the shortest is 16, but I just bought a 10 inch carbine barrel from mid way USA dot com for 69.99.
First choice is my accurate carbine load and I'm going to bring back my RE7 load, the most accurate 223/5.56 load I ever tested, but it don't cycle midlength or rifle length gun. It will weakly cycle a carbine length with out a silencer.

Hodgdon website lists 22.5 gains to 25.0 grains of W-748 for the .223 Remington.
I've shoot thousands of rounds of .223 loaded with W-748. I shot most at prairie dogs with 16 and 20 inch barrels, so never noticed a large fireball.I

Good Luck

I too really like 748 for .223, as well as TAC, xtermanator, if that little green case has a suppressor in it, flash won’t be bad at all, using it. At least it’s not with my 10.5” upper.

Without one, expect a lot of noise to go with the light show.

I have shot 748, BL-C2 and H335 from a 10" 7mm TCU and a 16" AR. Various weights and styles in both. Of the 3, the 748 was the least flashy in both firearms. If I remember correctly, I was running 24 grains (please DO verify, going off memory here) with a Speer 55 in the carbine AR, as well as a 75gr load that is out of your parameters.

I've found it to be a great powder in smaller cases overall. You'd probably get less flash and blast from one of the faster stick powders, but it should do fine.

I do 1,600 69 grain Match Kings to play with.
