this is for the model 12 collectors. I have a Winchester model 12 riot gun. Barrel is marked 12 Gauge CYL., Recvr and Barrel adapter have the same serial number, 952XXX (1942). I noticed many of the parts when I detail stripped the guns have a 12 stamped on them...I am assuming for 12 guage.

My trigger guard has a 20 stamped on it. Does this mean that it is not the original trigger guard? Was thinking this could mean 20 guage. I am thinking the 12 and 20 trigger assembly are the same...gun shoots fine.

Is it possible the gun was originally a 20 guage converted to a 12 guage riot...or is it normal for the trigger guard to be marked with a 20?

20 gauge Model 12s were built on a scaled receiver. Interchangeable with the 12 gauge it's not.

I think I figured that out as I took the trigger assembly out....the hammer is marked 16 (upside down), the pump/hammer lock lever is marked 12, the bolt is marked 10, the trigger guard is marked 20....what are these numbers???

Inspector marks.

thanks for that info...I didn't know if they came with multiple barrels in gauge as well as length...:uhoh:
