Just swapped around for a 1300 defender, have looked around and cannot find a photo of this gun on the web, gun is walnut stock, 18" barrel, will hold 7 of the small shells plus 1 in the chamber, Im not much on the plastic after market stocks and gizmos, but have seen the glow in the dark sights on these guns. Anyone have any info on where I could find one of these? I know these guns are out of production now, but there must be somewhere I could get one of these sights, any info on this shotgun would be appreciated

Usually you can find them on Gunbroker.com , where the price for the wood stock guns go for about $350 in excellent condition.

Winchester is kindasorta producing them again, called the SXP Defender now, but no wood furniture... http://www.winchesterguns.com/products/catalog/detail.asp?family=021C&mid=512252

There are a couple of choices for the tritium front sight that I know of, the glue-on version from XS for one - http://www.brownells.com/shotgun-pa...un-big-dot-tritium-front-sight-prod24532.aspx. I have one of these on a Rem 870 18.5" barrel and like it a lot. It really shows up, daylight or dark, for my tired old eyes. What AI&P said the other day about 'daddy's little night light' definitely apples with this one.

One advantage to this sight on a plain bead sight barrel is that it gets the bead up a bit, and that helps some with slug shooting. That's why Remington puts the beads on their short barrels on a block.

Then there's the drill and tap version from Meprolight - http://www.midwayusa.com/product/15...d-sight-6-48-thread-steel-matte-tritium-green. I have these installed on a couple of barrels and they work well too, but they aren't as bright as the XS version IMHO. I don't know if it will be a direct exchange for the bead that's installed in your barrel now or not, it depends on the hole size and thread pitch.

hth!
