looking to add a collapsible stock to my 1300 defender, does anyone have one on their 1300 or any thoughts on which is better quality wise.any info or thoughts are appreciated.
Are you looking for a shorter stock that better fits you or one of those AR collapsible types?
I would recommend a 13" LOP from Speedfeed or if you are of small stature or a family member who might have to use the shotgun in an emergency is of small stature a 12" LOP Shortstock from Hogue. Another option if your Defender is equipped with a wood stock is to have it shortened by a gunsmith to fit you and have him install a quality recoil pad like a Limbsaver or a KICK-EEZ.
I personally am not a big fan of the AR type collapsibles on a shotgun due to the smaller footprint of the AR stock and the greater felt recoil to your shoulder when shooting buckshot or slugs. A good cheek weld with one of those is hard to obtain without additional cheekpieces or modifications. Also, some of the collapsible stocks available are advertised as recoil reducing, but they cost as much as the shotgun .
thanks for the quick reply and the info i will check those stocks out and see what i can come up with. my 1300 is the synthetic stock i actually have a pistol grip on it now which i just use for messing around i put the original stock back on but its to long so im just looking for ideas. i originaly wanted an ar style stock like the one below but now im also looking at the fixed length stocks with the ar style grip.i just dont know what brands are good and what might be junk as far as aftermarket stuff goes.i know hogue is a good brand so ill definitely look into them and the others you mentioned.
