can any one tell me about this gun i found on at the pawn shop at about 90% over all condition for 219.00 is taht a fair price? how well do they shoot? any information is great thanks

I have a Winchester 1400.
They're an OK gun. They're a contemporary of the Remingtion 1100 and the biggest fault of the Win 1400 is it was simply not as good a gun as the Rem 1100 (which is a very, very good gun).
The Winchester 1400 is kinda the predecessor of the Win SX1 (similar gas operating system), they're very soft shooters (felt recoil is pretty light) but they like to be clean. Some people think the Winchester 1400 is a mutt, others think they're perfectly serviceable shotguns and as long as you clean them well every 500-1000 rounds or so they're relatively reliable.
With 1 oz loads my 1400 is a pussycat to shoot ... a great gun for introducing newbies, although it can be a little heavy for some beginners to support (they tend to lean backwards). I've never had my gun hiccup on light loads or heavier field loads, except when dirty.
The gun will have a 2 3/4" chamber so don't be tempted to try 3" or 3.5" magnum ammo in it. The screw in chokes (if the gun has them) extend beyond the muzzle and protect from dings, etc. Parts are available for service and repair. Its a 2+1 gun with the magazine holding 2 rounds and one in the chamber. The magazine cannot be extended. Getting a sling swivel magazine cap for a 1400 is like trying to find a rooster tooth necklace.
All in all they're a relatively cheap gun which is more than suitable for most people's field and occasional target needs. Probably not the best gun for a dedicated competitive trap or skeet shooter putting through thousands of rounds though.

Numrich sells parts kits for the 1400 still ... other probably do too. Parts availability isn't really a problem, availability of custom bits and bobs is pretty well non-existant.
Winchester 1300 butt stocks will fit (but not the fore end). Mag extensions can't be fitted, barrels are still available, choke tubes are available.
Don't expect to have people go ga-ga over the gun when you bring it out, but it'll certainly get the job done if you do your part.

I have a Winchester 1400 and I think it is a darn good gun for dove hunting. I really prefer hunting with it more than my Remington 1187. I can load it much faster, if the birds are flying reaaly good.

thanks all i have left is one question what about the 'mk2"?
I have no idea about the mk2, but I have a winchester 140 which is just the plain jane model of the 1400. I have had it for about twenty years now and it was bought for me used by my father as my first twelve gauge. The only problem I have had with it was the little plastic clip on that you pull back with your finger came off and was lost. I think this is a common problem for them as I have seen several in pawn shops missing this piece. It does not alter functioning of the gun and it is easily replaced.
