Yesterday I asked for help with finding an owners manual for my newly aquired 1400. Within minutes I had two (thanks guys) My question is; How do you remove the magazine spring and follower? The manual does not cover this. Is this something best left to a qualified gunsmith? I have fully disassembled and cleaned the rest of the gun (and boy!! did it need it) The piston assembly and action bars all removed quite easily. And bolt removal and disassembly were all obvious and easy. However the removal of the magazine spring and follower eludes me. Given the extremely dirty condition of the rest of the inner workings. I hate to not go all the way. Any help would be much appreciated.:banghead:

I'm not sure that you can take the spring and follower out without removing the indentations in the mag tube or pulling the mag tube, but I don't know how to do that. I think that is a gunsmith deal. You may just fill it with a polymer safe gun scrubber. The follower is plastic, so be careful with what you use. I never bothered to take the spring or follower out on either of mine.

My brother has my Win 140 (cheaper version of the 1400), so I can only go by memory here. I seem to remember that the plastic follower comes out if you push it in and turn it before letting it and the spring out. Again, this is just something I seem to remember and won't hurt to try.
