I have an older Winchester 1987 shotgun that I received broken from a friend. And i am at my wits end on how to even disassemble this shotgun. I say wits end because the fore end is stuck in the rearward position and it is impossible to push forward into battery by hand. The bolt itself is free inside the receiver and you can slide it back and forth with your fingers. And the bolt carrier/shell elevator can be moved by hand also. But the carried CANNOT be pushed back into battery fully.
The bolt or the carrier cant be removed in their current position. It seems like a piece has broken off inside the receiver somewhere and it has jammed the whole thing up. Im thinking the part that rides in the groove milled in the left hand side of the bolt carrier has sheared off and jammed the works.
I received this shotgun with a bag of all the pins, bolts, trigger group, action slide hook and other parts that he had already taken off. Any one have the slightest idea how to free the fore end (Action slide according to parts schematics) the bolt and the bolt carrier short of taking a hammer or a hacksaw to this shotgun?
Pictures to follow as soon as I find my camera.
