I just put a down payment on a Winchester 1897 in 12 gauge. It has a 30" barrel, full choke and, based on a serial number matching list I found online, was made at teh turn of the last century. The blueing looks to be original and is in probably 70-80 percent condition, with teh only significant wear being the last few incehs of teh barrel and the portion of the magazine tube under the slide.. The wood is definitely original and is in great shape--no cracks or gouges, just a little surface wear.
Anyway, I and going to pay a total of about $500 to get it out the door, and just wodered if there is anything I need to look out for with this. I Think I got a heck of a good deal. I'll post pics once I take possession.
