Had an interesting run in with some win brass. The primer pockets were so tight that I was destroying primers before they would seat. On inspection of the brass, the pocket appeared to have the outside edge of the old primer remaining in it, as best as I could tell. It looked like there was another band of metal in there. at least that's what it appeared to be. It was really odd.
I tried a number of things to remedy the situation thinking that it might just be really tight pockets - as some of my 45 brass is that way. I went so far as to ream out the edges with a drill countersink but to no avail. I could seat a primer in perhaps 1 in every 10 to 20 cases
It was an entire lot of the cases, more than 100 in all that were all off. I ended up throwing them all out in frustration - but I am still wondering. Anyone else come across something like this? I find it hard to imagine I punched out more than 100 primers in a row that only removed the center. The primer catch cup was certainly full of complete primers.
