What is this powder good for? I recently got a pound of it in a deal I did.

I shoot mainly the common pistol calibers such as 9mm, 45acp, 38spcl/357, 40s&w, and rifle calibers like 223, 308, and 7.5x55 swiss.

Is that powder usable for any of those?

that is Winchester's alternative to VV's 7.62X39 powder. I don't know if it's suitable for any other loading but it's about the best for the X39. if I was anywhere near you I would offer to buy it as it's not available to the public now but Win still uses it in their X39 cartridges. (which shoot pretty darn good IMO)

x39, you mean 7.62x39? I actually have a batch of 100 pieces of brasss for 7.62x39 that I was thinking of loading up. So that powder would be useful in there, where can I find the load data?

Some of the older manuals still show Win 680 loads. I'm not sure if they'll show loads in 7.62x39 though. I'm not home so I cannot look it up.

I would drop 4gr from the 1680 with the Win 680 to start, for the loads listed below.
The AA1680 loads are Maximum

Win 680 hasn't been marketed for over 30 years. My earlierst Winchester manual dated 1975 is the only reference old or new that has any information on 680. According to the manual 680 is a "very fast rifle powder designed specifically for small cases like the .30 carbine and .22 Hornet". I would suggest caution and proper work up using current 1680 data. Winchesters loads for the .22 Hornet with a 45gr bullet was 11.6 gr max while Accurates current data for 1680 says 12.3 gr is maximum but in .30 carbine both the old Winchester data and Accurate 1680 do match at 16.0 grs for a 110gr bullet.

The only use for handguns with 1680 is in .454 Casull, .460 S&W and .500 S&W.
