Winchester 770 question

Do you mean 670. If it is a Winchester 670 it is basically budget version of the model 70. They made a couple versions. Some with blind magazines, others with floorplates. All I've seen had cheaper birch stocks with either stamped checkering or none.

Did a little research on Google. It seems that the 670 and 770 are basically the same gun. Both are just budget model 70's with minor differences. Apparently the 670 was made in the 60's until they changed the name to 770 for a couple of years in the early 70's. As near as I can tell they are basically the same rifle. Some apparently had 2 position safety's while others had the basic 3 position safety used on the 70. At some time the budget gun name was changed to the model 70 Ranger.

I'd never heard of the 770 before now, but if you do a google search there seems to be lots of info about them.

Thanks JMR. I was able to find several of those sites, but i was looking for prices and a little more in depth discussion of quality. thanks again for the help though

Mine shoots good but sure isnt pretty and doesn't like to be fed slowly or the cartridge binds.
