I have a late model 94 post 64 and working on it as a project. Belonged to my older brother and he tore it up, so I am going through it and have all the parts needed to get her back to proper shape except the butt stock.

Looking around and found a website selling various furniture and would like to know how hard it would be fitting the rifle to an older model butt stock with the crescent butt-plate. Both would be straight grip.

That has been done....

http://www.rarewinchesters.com/gunroom/1894/model_94.shtml

it was available as a 22 inch in 38/55

I would believe it would be a direct swap.

Now...before you go and buy something...contact this man:

http://www.treebonecarving.com/

He is a very nice fellow. Email him your question and he can set you up with what ever kind of wood you desire.

Now that being said....I suspect that your desire for the Crescent butt plate is strictly cosmetic. If you have not shot one.....try to find one and shoulder it. I personally hate them.... Some love them...to each his own. If you want that style... Treebone can do it for you.

No affiliation... Just a VERY satisfied customer. He does great work.

Cheers
Mac.

Treebone

I have used Treebone Carving stocks for several Model 94 projects and can vouch for them also.
