Greetings,

I am just starting to seriously get into guns and the study of them. I am looking at the Winchester 94 trapper. Probably won't be my first purchase, but will be considered in the future. I am curious about the various load options. 30-30, .44, .45 colt, 357 mag.

I am bias towards the last three, simply because it holds 9 of them instead of 5 of the 30-30. But I am curious about the pros and cons of the four calibers. How do they compare to each other? If you had to pick one, which would you pick, and why?

Thanks,
Llywelyn

Originally got a .357 Trapper. Fun gun, but felt like an air rifle. Ordered a 22" in the .44 mag. They got the 26" by mistake. I said what the heck and bought it anyway. Thing is a tack driver. So accurate that it's almost no fun.

I've owned lever guns in all calibers mentioned over the years and I'm back where I started..........a couple of 30-30s Essex

I have an old one

it's a 30-30 trapper carbine. It's nothing fancy, but it is reliable, rugged, and accurate enough. I took my first deer with it, so it holds a special place with me.
