It is probably worth around a grand if it is as you say.

The question you have to ask yourself is, did you buy it to shoot, or did you buy it as an investment for your estate to try & reap the profits off of.

Most guns like yours, when sold through normal channels by kids or wives bring .25 - .50 cents on the dollar of what they are really worth. Estate sales, auctions, gun dealers, and Cabala's gun buyers are not the best way to sell a collectable firearm like yours.

If it was mine, I'd shoot it all I wanted, and just take good care of it.
Oh, and keep the box & papers in good condition, in case someone down the road really knows what they are worth & wants to pay for having it.

Dad bought me a Marlin 39 back in 1952, It has been such a good shooter over the years I would not consider another.
