Looking to get a lever action 22 rifle. Perferabley a marlin 39a or winchester 9422. I already have a marlin model 60 i love it.

1st off -- welcome to THR
I was recently down this road -- 39a, 9422, Browning? Henry?
All would be fine and be a great shooter for a long time to come, but when it got down to it, I went w/ the Marlin.

I'd go (already did!) with the Marlin but the Winchester is an awfully nice rifle (carbine). Either one is win-win.

And a hearty welcome to the High Road! You'll like it here.

I have both a 9422 and a 9422M.
Both were made in 1972, the first year of production. Both have 4-diget serial numbers about 1,100 apart.

Most excellent rifles in every way.

Be aware however, that by the time Winchester stopped making them in 2005, the machinery was well worn out.

If you can find an earlier one with the same look as an old 94 Winchester 30-30, there has not been a better or more accurate lever-action .22 made.
