Has anyone else ever wondered why Winchester does not have an AR-15 for sale ? Maybe it is due to the Japanese laws? I don't know , just thinking out loud. I think it would look pretty cool to have an AR-15 with the Winchester Horse and rider logo on the side of the lower receiver!

Winchester is a brand name these days, not a company. As noted above, FN Herstal markets a wide range firearms under a wide range of brands. It would however be a 'repeating arm'.

Virtually none of the firearms made by Miroku can be sold in Japan. Ironic.

I'm not sure why a company that tends to cater to the traditional hunting market would want to enter an already crowded MSR market. How many AR "manufacturers" that were in business three years ago still exist? Never say never I guess. Browning did import some FAL's back in the 60's .

I'm with rule 303.......... I bet they had their market research assets involved in studying that market and decided that it was already pretty well saturated and they decided that they wouldn't be able to get a big enough slice of the pie. Just too much competition; which is good for the consumers but inhibits other companies from jumping in.

Not too many years ago folks bought any gun that had .380 engraved on it. These days anything that looks like an AR seems to magically teleport off of gun store racks.
