Winchester M1 carbine DOB???

I recently inherited a Winchester M1 carbine from my Dad. My Mom tells me he brought it home for her while he was serving in the Michigan National Guard during the Detroit riots in the 60's. Any way it's a winchester M1 carbine serial number 5561928. Any help as far as
production date or anything else would be greatly appreciated.

Well, all GI carbines were made during the war so that narrows down the date a bit. Someone will post shortly to give you an exact date.

After a little more leg work it looks like Feb. 1944 -to- Nov.1944.
