Question for the M1 Carbine experts out there.
I have a Winchester Carbine S/N 6,553,XXX. It is 2nd to last production block and is correct. Wear matches. No import mark. Am pretty sure it is original
The other day I noticed that the bottom front of the trigger guard is slightly rounded to the rear as if it was to be put into a rack of some sort.
Check out the pictures. The “J” on the bottom of the trigger housing was a production code of varying numbers or letters and unique to Winchester. The second pic shows it best.
I have seen this where the front of the trigger guard has been filed to fit in a vehicle gun rack or lock. It was primarily on civilian police shotguns like Stevens or High Standard.
Comments and information is appreciated
Thanks,
Jim, BEDFORDTEC
