I've searched the archives with no results.

We recently got a model 12 in trade at the shop, with a model 97 marked barrel installed. The barrel is 26" and marked (and guages) as a full choke.

Manufacture date of the reciever based on S/N is 1913.

Could this be a factory gun, or is it a non factory put together?

Thanks in advance.

Is this a 12 or 16 ga?
This is a non factory put together.
Someone must have done a bit of machining to get that done.

It's a 12 ga. I haven't tried to take it down, but it looks to be well done. Thing is, it balances well, mounts nicely, and just feels good.

I'm thinking about it!:D

I think it is pretty safe to say that that gun was the product of a pretty good gunsmith who had a Model 12 with a bad barrel and a spare 97 barrel.

One something like this I would highly recommend that any buyer be allowed to shoot it before buying. You just don't know if it will work properly without actually shooting it.
