Winchester model 12

I recently recieved a model 12 from my father-in-law. I am trying to find out the approx. manufacturing date. I looked up on oldguns.net but they don't have model 12, unless I am blind or model 1912 is the same thing. the serial number is 63863X. Any help would be appriciated.

Duuuuuuh, you already have the link. I think the 1912 is the same thing.

I think the term "Model 1912" after 5 or 10 years started to sound like an old or out of date gun . So the manufacturer changes it to "MODEL 12 " which doesn't sound so old 10 or 50 years later.

You got the best pump gun ever made IMHO. Enjoy the gun, you won't find many better.

I believe it's mid 1931.
