I am hoping that someone will be able to explain how to get the firing pin out of the breech bolt sleeve. Currently, I have the spring and washers off of the firing pin. My disassembly book shows a bolt with a cap on the end and a pin. I believe mine must be a newer model as it does not have this cap. There was a small set screw which I have removed. The safety is in the fire position and will not rotate to any other. There is some rust between the sleeve and firing pin and could be what is keeping it from moving. It has been soaking in Kroil for about 4 weeks and I tap with a rubber mallet every few days. No movement as of yet. In reference to rust, I can see what may be rust around the edge where the firing pin and bolt sleeve meet. There is excellent bluing on all other visible surfaces. What should be my next move?

You should simply be able to slide the firing pin back out of the shroud.

Were you having troubles before disassembly?

The screw you removed is not broken by chance and a portion still in the shroud?

Will the firing pin move either way in the shroud? As you should be able to move it.

Thanks for the response Chris.

The bolt was in this condition when I purchased the rifle. So far all I have done is remove the firing pin assembly from the bolt and remove the spring. It was not in the rifle when I got it.
The small screw is not broken.
The safety is in the fire position and will move a little (15%). Is there any way the safety can be holding the pin in the shroud?
I have considered drilling a hole the size of the lower part of the pin in a piece of hardwood, inserting the pin and use another piece of drilled wood over the head of the pin and LIGHTLY try to tap the shroud down. I am unsure if this might mess up the safety. I am not rushed for time and can always soak in Kroil for another month or so if needed.
Thanks, Larry

There is a cross pin on the end of the bolt that has to be removed. Then remove the bolt end piece to the rear (it may be stuck a bit; if so you can tap it off by sliding the striker assembly against it). Then remove the striker assembly which includes the firing pin.

If the safety is in the fired position (forward) it should not contact the firing pin assembly .The small screw is what keeps it all together. If you have no gas shield cap, some models do not ,and the firing pin spring is removed the firing pin should back out of the cocking piece.
If does not something is not right, rusted ,jammed in ????

Thanks All

I will soak for a few more weeks and try to press the pin out. I appreciate all the input.

Thanks, Larry

My suggestion would be to hold as much of the firing pin that you can in a padded visw, leaving approximately 1/4 inch between the edge of the vise and the cocking piece ,and with a good nylon hammer or a brass punch ,hit the cocking peice smartly. It shoud move.I personally would not hit the actual firing pin ,you are setting youself up to bend it.
