Ok your rifle guru's. My girlfriends' father has an older (known pre-70's) Winchester Model 94 rifle in .30-30 Win. The stock is absolutely gorgeous (no scratches/dings/dents), the bluing is probably 95% or better on the barrel/magazine tube, and about 50% on the receiver. The bore is clean, and the rifling crisp and sharp. The action is slick, clean, and tight.

So here are my questions. We're trying to nail down the age range of this rifle a little better (serial # is 2721xxx). So if anyone can give us an idea of the age range or a resource to find out the age range, that would be much appreciated. Also, based on the condition and age, an idea of the value of the rifle would be appreciated. They're not looking to sell it (I've already offered to buy it if they ever change their mind.... ) as it's a family heirloom. But they'd like an idea of the value of the rifle in order to determine if they need to have it professionally appraised for their insurance policy.

Oh, and just to make me even more jealous, her father also has a Browning Lightweight A5... I haven't taken a look at that one yet. But if they ever decide that they want to sell that one, I'm putting my bid in first too... :neener:

Thanks Scott. That fits with the general time frame they had in mind. Since it's not a pre-64, looks like there really isn't the need to have it appraised. At least not from the info I've been able to gather, that the pre-64's are the more valuable ones from a collectors standpoint. Anyone know if this is correct?
