Winchester model 100

Why would you imagine that, dannyd? Dad used his Model 100, .308 (1961 vintage) for mule deer and elk hunting for 40 years as best as I can remember. And I used my own Model 100 .308 for mule deer and elk hunting from 1964 until the early '80s when I decided I just "had to have" a 30-06 for doing the same things I'd been using my .308 for since I was about 15 years old. So, I got myself a Ruger 77, 30-06.
Dad did have a Model 100, .243 for only a few years. I think he bought it thinking Mom would use it, but she never did take to it. So, I guess that Model 100 was in the "lightly used" category when Dad sold it. ;)
Most hunter's I know only shoot at the animals they hunt, so in 40 years couple hundred rounds at most because of game limits.

I am a target shooter, so my revolvers have anywhere from 5,000 to 35,000 rounds on them. :)

Yeah, I guess that's right. When my wife and I were shooting IHMSA, there was nothing strange about running 500 rounds per month through each of our silhouette handguns in competition and practice. But I doubt I ran 500 rounds total through my Model 100 .308 in the 20 or 21 years I was using it for big game hunting.
BTW, I still have my Model 100 (my first big game rifle), but it's been in one gun safe or another since the early '80s. :)
