I am thinking of buying a winchester model 12 shotgun from a buddy of mine.It is the standard model. 28 " plain barrel, full choke, ribbed corncob style forearm, plain uncheckered pistol grip buttstock, gun has about 60 %-70% of it's original finish left. The stock is in good condition,no cracks or large dents. It has been used quite a bit,but it's in pretty good shape for it's age. Does anyone know what it would be worth, and what would be a fair price to pay for it? ......THANKS

Welcome to the High Road DONUTMAN742.

The last years Blue Book suggests $175 for a 70% M12, many go for more depending on the area of the country you live in.

One thing about the M12's is they have parts available about everywhere, and they are a classic shotgun.

Try looking at prices on the GunsAmerica web site. Lots of price variations plus adding in freight and FFL fees will give you an idea of what you are thinking about buying is a good deal or not. I look at their guns prices and compare and usually buying local wins. My Model 12,from 1954, in 16 guage was given to me and I wouldn't part with it, though I have been offered quite a bit for it. If you buy it, treasure it as they are truly fine shotguns. My son learned to shoot trap with it and it will be handed down in the family.

Thanks for the info guys! I've been looking on the gunsamerica site, and it's really amazing how many nice old guns there are out there ! It's nice to hear that you will be passing your gun onto your son. My father has a nice gun collection, and he says he'll be doing the same.I hope it's not for a while though. (ha ha) :)
Anyway , thanks for the info on the model 12.

P.S. I'm new to the website, and this was my first post.Still learning how to use the site......Happy Shooting !!

M12 prices have dropped over the last several years. The one you describe will still bring around $250 - $280 in my area because they are such a fine gun. A lot still look for them to use in turkey shoots and that keeps the price high!
