Does anybody have a link or a set of instructions on how to disassemble a Model 12. If you could please email me a set of instructions I would really appreciate it.

Thanks

I'll try briefly but want to note that the Model 12 is not one of the easiest guns in the world to dis/re-assemble or work on.

1. First, make sure gun is not loaded, then place receiver upside down in a padded vise.
2. Remove the guard screw behind the trigger guard and remove the guard assembly. Do not disassemble the guard assembly. If you do, note that the carrier screw has left hand threads.
3. To remove the bolt, the ejector has to be removed from the left receiver wall, then the slide disconnected from the bolt and moved forward. There are two wide places in the receiver and the bolt must be moved back so that the extractors fit in those wide places to allow the bolt to come out.
4. To remove barrel and magazine tube from receiver, pull the slide to the rear, and push out the magazine locking pin until it stops. Using it as a lever, turn the magazine tube and pull it forward until it clears the receiver. Then turn the barrel and magazine assembly 90 degrees to the left and remove it.

I do not recommend any further disassembly; the above should be adequate for any reasonable cleaning.

I suggest doing a Google search on "Winchester Model 12" and look for manuals. Might cost a couple of bucks, but worth it.

Jim
