My son just inherited a Remington model 12-A 22LR pump rifle from his grandfather. I'm not sure how to break it down  , and would appreciate any instructions, exploded view, or other information that will help us maintain this nice little rifle. Thanks!

The closest thing I have is the Rem 121, which is a drivitive of the Model 12A. Although different in some areas, the disassem may help you with what you have.

Will need your email addy to send it.

Here is a web site ( www.again.net/~steve/page7a.htm )goto Remington , model 12. There is an exploded diagram you undo the TAKEDOWN SCREW # 6 BUT DON'T TRY TO TAKE IT RIGHT OUT OF THE RECEIVER JUST OUT ENOUGH TO SEPARATE THE BARREL FROM THE STOCK. This breaks it down to 2 parts exposes all the inners for cleaning. Unless you are really mechanically inclined don't take it down any further just Hose it down with one of the pressurized gun cleaners, dry it and oil it. If you take it down any further watch that you don't lose # 18 the cartridge retainer, it usually stays in place by crud and rust then falls out when you start cleaning and goes missing . Watch you don't lose this as they don't make them anymore and the gun will not feed properly, in fact it will feed everything that is in the mag which causes things to jam up. The model 12, 12A and 121 are similar guns.

I broke my Rem Model 12A (700,00+ serial number) so uses a redesigned cartridge retainer than all the you-tubes are not showing on disassembly and reassembly. Can anyone point me in the right direction for instructions on reassembly for this newer type cartridge retainer?
