Hi,

So I have an 1895 Winchester in 3006. It has a rebounding hammer and a tang safety.

I purchased the rifle new about 10 years ago and got it out today to compare it to another rifle (post pending). Anyways, the freaking safety can move, but is stuck in the safe position preventing the hammer from reching the firing pin.

Can I just have a gun smith replace the safety with a Marbles tang sight and be done with it?

I don't think that'll do, but I can't be certain. Marbles makes a tang sight for the 95's with the tang safety.

Compatible Tang Sight

As an alternative, does your 95 have the two screws on the left side of the reciever, near the top/rear? If so, you're already pre-drilled for a reciever mounted peep. Some of them were drilled, some of them were not. Mine was not unfortunately. I ordered a peep from Lyman and had a gunsmith install it for me.

i have quite a few brownings made in the 80,s and early 90,s before winchester started making them and i have not bought another be cause of the safety issue. i guess they are a good idea,i just don,t like them. eastbank.
