Decided long time ago to stick with Winchester SuperX 1oz. slugs....12 ga.
They are X12RS15 Rifled Hollow Points 1600fps. They shoot good an cheap...15 for under 10.00. At the range today, with brand new box I only had to make a slight change to the left an down....pretty much zeroed at 55yds an 113 yds. An out of the rifled an scoped Mossberg 500 got consistent 3" groups. The next range setting was 220 yds.....didn't try it, but would like to know where I would hit at least out to 150 yds because for deer season I'm hunting open corn fields. Winchester's ballistics show that a zero at 50 yds. would equal a 5.9" drop at 100 yds.....?...this doesn't add up...an at 125 yds it will drop 12.1".....I was hoping to have some idea how much higher to aim at 150 yds, but this is formula isn't going to work...could Winchester's ballistic be this far off....?

The short answer is yes, their numbers could be that far off :)

My ballistic calculator shows sort of similar numbers to that winchester sheet. Its a mystery why you hit at point of aim at 55y and 113y... those seem wierd. Have you measured the muzzle velocity to be 1600fps? that seems fast for a 1oz slug.. 1400fps seems more consistent with a 12" drop at 125y.

Here is my best guess at your ballistics. Only trying it out will let us know for sure:

1600 fps, 437gr projectile, 0.75 sight height, .109 BC, 60 degrees, 735ft altitude.

50y zero
100y -4.25"
140y -12.5"
180y -26"
220y -46"

OR

55y +3"
115y zero
150y -9"
200y -24"
220y -34"

The box says 1600fps which was faster than what I thought it would be, they had some with a different foster type 1oz. that were even faster....could be the shotgun, an it was colder..in fact it was snowing a little today....the bottom fomula seems pretty close, I guess I was just a little high at 55 an a little low at 113...not enough to make any adjustments....I think I'll make another range trip next week an try out the 220 yd!!!
Thanks chrome!!! By the way I'm at around 700ft altitude...good guessing on that!!
