Hey everyone. I have read numerous forums and articles and it seems like everyone has a different opinion. I have always used Winchester primers for everything that I load. I just recently started loading .223 for my AR and picked up 10k WSR primers. After my purchase I have read about people having issues with pierced primers in the AR platforms. I am inclined to think there is more to their stories than just the primer but just to err on the side of caution I thought I would ask everyone what their opinions were. Are WSR primers safe in an AR platform? I hate to think I spent all that money on the "wrong" primer but I could always store them for my bolt gun. Thanks everyone.

Perhaps Slamfire will chime in. He says when they switched from silver to brass colored primers they also made them more sensitive. I have no reason to doubt him. I used plenty of the older nickle plated ones with no issues, but I have used some of the new ones as well, no issues. I did however, buy a 5K of the Wolf primer designed for .223, as well as 3K of the CCI #41, which is specifically for the .223/5.56X45. I have a couple K of the old nickle plated WSR primers left as well. I have also used Fed 205 primers in ARs with no issues. I am not a real high volume .223 shooter though.
