Are these worth reloading other than being lower quality than AA or Remingtons? I have a butt load and hate to throw them out. I assumed they were the Gun Clubs of the Winchester brand.

These shells were not designed to be reloaded. They are steel based instead of brass like the AA or STS hulls and there is not a specific wad designed for them. If one desires to go cheap, you could reload them, but they would be hard on your reloader and would shoot rather poorly.

I reload Remington Gun Club, Target Load, and Game Load. All of them are steel based and there ARE wads for them. I load each one several times too, until the crimps actually crack (and sometimes once more after that). I haven't had a single misfire in thousands of rounds.

Basically, as long as they're plastic hulls, they can be reloaded.

Steel based shotgun shells are the norm these days. Some are copper washed to appear as brass, but only AA, STS and the more expensive Federal hulls still use all brass. You can best tell by running a magnet over the metal base.

These days, I prefer the Remington Gun Club hulls to the current production AA hulls. I get more loads from the Gun Club hulls, and have even seen the current AA hulls split on the first firing.

There are wads available for just about any hull currently being manufactured. It just takes good reference material, or sources to find them, sometimes.

Hope this helps.

Fred

Gentlemen: I don't want to start a spitting contest here, but I would like to know the recommended wad for the Winchester Super Target hull and if you do load these hulls, how do they pattern compared to a factory round. For the record, I am a AA ATA shooter with over 86,000 registered targets broken and still hold several state records. I believe I have some idea of what I have said previously. You can load Speer Aluminum cased Blazer ammo if you have a mind to, I don't.

I had boat loads as well, of the Winchesters...Threw them all out and bought Fiochhi primed and skived hulls from Ballistic Products for $9.97 per 100...Great hulls, and are loaded with Fio 616 primers for a steal ! I also had some Federal heavy dove hulls from last season.Felt terrible tossing them as well, however the Fiochhi's shoot great and can be reloaded many times. (...Just my 2 bits worth.)

Oh ...PS, the Winchester Super Target uses the same hull as the AA's (WAA12 wad) You may get two reloads out of the Super Targets...(flimsy hulls and cheap wad bases)

loadedround, that's very impressive. When I was shooting reg. targets I didn't even come close to that much. How many rds for practice? 86,000 divided by 500rds a week, that's 3 years. You've been shooting and reloading for ?10-15? years? Looking back in my load books I was going through a case of 12ga a week plus 12 boxes of 20ga a week. This was only for 2yrs while in the Air Force. So I reloaded EVERY empty hull I could get my hands on. Heck I even tryed using picked up, used, wadds. Like Reloaderfred says theres a wadd for every hull made.

G36Rick -
What reload data did you use for the Win Super Target hulls? Is it the same as Win AA? I've got a couple hundred WST hulls and wouldn't mind getting another load or two outta them.

Thanks - Dave
