Do any of you guys have any experience with the winchester sxp? Not the sx3. How does it handle? How would it compare to a rem 870 express or a mossy 500. Does the speed pump work as advertised? My dad has an old 1200 and I love it. Does it feel well built or just thrown together? Any answers would appreciated. Thanks!

I have the SXP. Purchased it as my first shotgun. As such, I have not fired a Mossberg 500/590 or Remington 870, so I don't have a comparison to make. (Intending to remedy that on our next group outing, when I'll have the option to try both.)

The gun itself is pretty lightweight, but the butt pad does an excellent job of taking the recoil and managing it down to a "shove" intead of a "kick." I've used both steel and lead shot through it, no complaints.

Fit and finish feels well built. I haven't noticed any sloppiness when cycling the action. Disassembly for cleaning is very easy.

The gun also lives up to the advertisements for fast cycling. I find myself with the forearm back and the shell ejected before I realize I've been pulling on it.

Again, this is not with any frame of reference, so take it as you will. I love it though. :)

It is basically the same gun as the 1200/1300, with a few minor changes. Most parts will interchange with the 1300. Decent gun, made in Turkey, and not as well finished as the CT built 1300's, but I would say it is on par with the current Remingtons.
