Windham Weaponry closing.

Reflexively I hate to hear of a company like WW closing. I've heard nothing but good about their firearms and they seem to be genuinely good folks. But I'll admit the odds of me buying one of the rifles was near zero to begin with. I don't buy a ton of guns anyway and am not a huge AR fan (I have four guns that most folks would consider ARs although technically they're not). It seems like folks are split into two primary camps, the group that wants a higher-end gun and the folks that want the cheapest AR they can get. Mid-range ARs has to be a tough place to make a living giving the market saturation right now.

When Windham first started I remember people were interested mainly because of the Bushmaster connection. I never had a Bushmaster so I never had a reason to be partial to them. As an outsider/new AR buyer, if I were to buy new, I was interested in a Colt, for the name/heritage, a PSA (for the price/value) or maybe I could be persuaded to pay up big for a Daniel Defense or Knights Armament, purely for the “authentic operator cred.” The sole reason I ever looked at Windham or anyone else was if their gun was on sale and it seemed like maybe I could get a better gun for a PSA price.
