Acadamy Sports has a good deal on a AR-15, would like some input on these rifles. Internet says that there us made out of a old bushmaster plant. Anybody know if there any good and are milspec?

Bushmaster (well, Freedom Group, really) abandoned the overpriced yankee labor and left Windham, Maine for North Carolina. Some of the ex-employees got together and started Windham Weaponry.

It's got a transferrable lifetime warranty, so at least if it's junk you can get a new piece of junk to replace it every time it breaks. Still kinda early to tell if it's worth a crap, but they probably don't actually make any parts anyways. They just snap the parts together.

The one that I held looked good, but that doesn't mean much. Basically, it is a Pre-Freedom Group Bushmaster.

As you already know, the prior owners and employees of the original Bushmaster, now that FGI has moved Bushmaster-brand production to Ilion, NY (not NC as far as I know) alongside Remington, Marlin, and whatever else is getting made there.

They are probably decent but nothing special. I'd consider one at a very good price, but wouldn't pay any premium at all - too many better choices that are quite affordable right now.

$799? i don't know, about every LGS around me is out of decent ARs that arent $1200 its getting quite fustrating

I would put my money down for one. These folks have it all on the line, and when American workers are motivated like that they usually turn out a hell of a product. That, and they are out to make a name too.

you are correct. they are made in NY. only Bushmaster's headquarters is in Madison, NC.
