I can't help but think we are losing most days. Maryland, California, Connecticut, Colorado, and New York seem to be going ever the way of anti-gun. There is some small hope for Colorado and some desperate hope for Connecticut but it just looks like we are losing this fight for our rights one inch at a time.

Our wins have been avoiding a federal ban on modern sports rifles and service capacity magazines, beating a Universal Background Check but even that seems to be slipping back the other way. Yes the usual pro-gun states have loosened their laws but that's like praising a Golden Retriever for bringing you a tennis ball you tossed for it, it's expected.

Yeah we got McDonald v. Chicago and Heller v. D.C. but it's now starting to slip back the other way it feels like. Illinois seems like it will be the new test ground for whether or not a state once long under oppression of its rights can rejoin the free states.

There are lawsuits in Colorado, Connecticut, and New York but what fruit are we likely to get from that. I know Illinois surprised most of us but New York is ferverently anti-Bill of Rights. Colorado is tied to the Ninth as I understand it so that means their laws will likely stand. And Connecticut I just can't see going anywhere positive.

Am I wrong? Does anyone have any good news? Is our only hope the 2014 Election?

Anyone else have any thoughts. I'm in a negative mood on this one.

Magnum;

I'm not the statistician, web guru, or researcher, but my feeling is that as population densities rise, gun control gains ground. There are, of course, some exceptions, but they are grudgingly given and fought vehemently by the controllers.

I wish the Constitution party was a viable political entity.

If you look at the last 20 years, we've made amazing progress. Politics and law are like a pendulum. We're moving the pivot point of that pendulum ever farther toward our way of thinking. That seems abundantly clear, but year-to-year there will be little swings back and forth which don't necessarily reflect the larger trend.

Yeah, you could look right now, at the very bottom of a minor oscillation, and say we're trending the wrong way, but when you look at some of the recent news from CO and the gathering steam among our fellows in the hard-fought states, you can sort of tell that shift has already decelerated and is starting to turn.

As the old guard, committed, primary-issue anti-gun zealots are all ancient and fully realize they've hit the last gasps of their careers (and some have just this weekend gasped their last and begun the welcome process of returning to the universe the collection of elements they so unfortunately comprised for the last 89 years! ;)) it is no surprise that there was one grand final push. But that torqued off so very many people, all appalled by the arrogance and over-reach, that in the end they're likely to have simply driven the pendulum farther our way within the next few years.

In other words, don't fret it.

Guess this came at a good for ya:

Colorado Springs, CO, June 4,2013, The Basic Freedom Defense Fund (BFDF - www.bfdf.org),the Colorado grassroots group heading the recall of State Senate President John Morse (D-Colorado Springs) has submitted16,046 District 11 voter petition signatures to the Colorado Secretary of States' office for the recall of John Morse.This exceeds both the 7,178 signatures necessary for the recall and also exceeds the total number of votes (13,451) cast for Morse during his 2010 election.

Already under discussion in the thread Colorado News. Somebody just got that uncomfortable feeling in their tummy... mmhmmm, that mighta been a mistake. :)

That's awesome sauce right there.

New Jersey is under the radar for some reason or another but they too are going overboard with anti-gun laws that make life difficult for law abiding citizens.

It seems to be the ole' "look we did somptin'" scenario.
