Have you contacted your county's sheriff yet? If not, please do.

I live 'on the line' between two counties and have talked (via email - to get written proof of their feelings) with both of my sheriffs.

One is for CCW and the other has questions about the 'non-funded' mandate that I'm trying to get cleared up with him now by showing him info that I've rec'd from Zien's office or the WCCA website.

If we can 'show them the light', that may help the bill pass the override veto.....it sure can't hurt!!

At least we now know there is at least one county we can all drive to to get permits.

Just as important: Let your county board members know how you feel. They kind of have the final say. My guess is that only 3 or 4 boards will allow the sheriff to opt-out unless the sheriff threatens to hire a full-time deputy to process CCW licenses. Wisconsin law pretty much states that the sheriff can spend whatever it takes to perform the functions of law. Only time will tell.
