I so wish Scheels was in Florida. They have primers in different flavors for $63.00 thousand thereabouts. That and tax and you are out the door. Online suppliers are in the $90.00 to $105.00 range and then tax, shipping and hazmat fees. Hazmat fees can range from $19.95 to $40.00 depending on the supplier. Something stinks really bad about all of this. Glad I am mostly all set. Hope Scheels or some other outfit opens a store here in Florida. Inconsistent and gouged pricing with absurd hazmat fees that are all over the place don't entice me to buy.

I used to pick up primers and powders from a vendor that came to USPSA matches. I never bought primers unless they were under $100 a case, and he usually had them low.

There's probably some little guy still out there somewhere.

I used to buy from Valor in Fort Lauderdale. You have to have some kind of retail license- they're wholesale only.

This shortage is about the longest I've ever seen. I figured on just waiting it out. I'm about out of small pistol primers. I still have a couple of cases of large pistol primers. I'll have to start casting 45s again.

They are supposedly putting one in the woodland hills mall in Tulsa OK soon so that will be nice for us Okies. Hopefully they keep expanding south and east towards y'all!!

For Northeast Florida we been using mail order for more than 30 years. Very few places sell the quantity needed. The gun shows were once a good place to get supplies, but in the last 10 years they have gone down hill.

I buy online; shot 11,809 rounds last year hoping to at get to 12,000 this year.

By the way if you are from up north and miss it
we will understand if you go back. :)

Something does stink about it. Sportsman's Warehouse has been consistently selling primers for under $6 per 100 for months and months now. Limit of 200, but you know they are not selling them at a loss. Seems a lot of stores are taking advantage.

Would be nice to have one in Arkansas too! I ordered some powder and primers yesterday, about the cheapest they have been since the Pandemic started. I hated paying the price but I looked at it like buying into the stock market, call it dollar cost averaging!

If you use Ammoseek and ShootingBOT.com you will find the best deals out there; then you will have to decide how much you want to shoot.

I started 35 years ago and price's are never going to be that low again, but I am lucky this is my only hobby and I have not had kids around the house in 20 years. So, I have income to spend on supplies and my hobby.

Remember it's a hobby enjoy it. :)

Indeed a great hobby!! There is a Scheel's in KC about an hour drive from me. Periodically I spend a day going to several shops around this area. In the process I get a feel for the availability of guns, ammo, and reloading components. My semi-annual trip to the Tulsa Gun Show is an eye-opener too. In fact, I'll be there in 2 weeks.
As my passion for all things gun/hunting related activities has grown over the years, I've found a host of ways to engage this absorbing hobby.

The Springfield Il. store has had every primer except the large or small pistol on its shelves for quite some time, but the prices averaged around $95/1000. Last stopped by the place 2 weeks ago, so maybe the prices have since dropped.?.?
Side note...I was able to find .410 shells at pre-panic price.

A Scheels is opening in Wichita in June. Big store and they're already making an impact. They just bought naming rights to a major youth soccer complex and put their name on it. A friend of mine who owns a LGS here has told me that every gun retailer in town is scared of Scheels. I've never been in one of their stores, curious to see what they offer. I'm not anxious to see them put smaller local stores out of business.

For me at Scheel's is the open display of many firearms that allows customers to handle them, shoulder them, feel the weight and balance; all the things you cannot do ordering from GunBroker. Displayed in glass cases are some more pricey firearms, like a Chistensen for $3,000+. If you want to handle them, they will open the case. Not often, but occasionally, they have sales on very nice guns. For example, a Cooper single shot .223 for 20% off would have made a wicked pdog shooter. I passed on it, but was tempted even though I have plenty of varmint rifles. They also have had a good supply of powder. Sales staff is always friendly and eager to help.

The Scheel's store I've been in the most (up in MN) has a very impressive gun selection, as Sniper66 says. But their reloading dept blows me away. They have auto case annealers, high end presses, lots and lots of accessories for loaders, etc. Keeps me coming back anytime I'm in the area.

We have a Scheel's here in Colorado Springs. Nice store, primers are hit or miss at 89 to 95 bucks per thousand. Good prices on new guns, pretty good selection but Cabelas beats them hands down on used guns. Staff is always friendly and helpful.

I went into my local Scheels for the first time yesterday. Holy Moly! It was like Disneyland.

1000 Remington primers were $90 though. Not much cheaper than anywhere else I've seen.

I like Scheels. The one in Appleton WI is nice. They have got many of my dollars through the years....

I haven't been to the West Des Moines Scheels for a few weeks, but they've been at $90 to $120 or more every time I've been there for the last few years. Prices usually about match what Brownells or Powder Valley has then at but at least you don't have to pay hazmat or shipping.
