WOLF 223 Brass

If it's Wolf Gold it is brass with Boxer primers and can be reloaded.

If it is Wolf steel-case, with Berdan primers, no.

So, if a magnet sticks to them, toss them

Thanks for the info RC. After closer inspection several of the necks are already split and they are steel. So in the trash they go. Darn, I thought I was on to some free brass. Does that hold true for any steel, for example 9mm?

The only steel Wolf cases that I have loaded (and more for an experiment than anything else) are the 45acp steel case ammo.

I have reloaded 20 of them so far about 4 times and they are doing fine.

I do lube the cases with One Shot before running them though my carbide sizing die.

If you look down the neck and see one central flash hole, it uses a Boxer primer, and you could reload them if you just have the need for abusing your equipment.

If there are two off-center flash holes, they are Berdan primed, and can't be reloaded.
(Well, they could with a lot of extra work, and a source for odd size Berdan primers.)

All of my Wolf .223 is boxer primed, and yes, I have reloaded it. Nothing stout, just plinking loads for the AR. I followed the sticky thread about it on ARFCOM.

So You Want to Load Wolf Steel Cases

There are basically 2 schools of thoughts on this subject.
School of Thought #1 = Sure you can reload it. Just use common sense with the loadings, watch for signs of excess pressure and case failure ( you should do this will all your reloads anyway). This school is inhabited by people who actually have done it, and done it responsibly.

School of Thought # 2 = :what: OMG!!! Are you crazy????? Don't you know that if you attempt to do that you could start a chain reaction creating a black hole and the entire universe will be destroyed???? This school is inhabited by people who are passing on what they've heard rather than what they've actually researched and tried.
