I have noticed there is a lot of Wolf .380 classic and polyformance 94 gr. FMJ ammo available at $ 0.25 a round. Is this ammo any good. I'm asking because I don't normally shoot .380 acp and my frined is looking to get some ammo. The CCI speer and Browning 95 gr. FMJ ammo I would be more inclined to tell him to get is running $0.32 per round.

Check your owners manual. Most wolf is steel cased ammo. Many say not to use such in the Keltec 3AT with broken extractors being the issue. I think in larger traditional .380 like a walther PP pistol it would be ok, but it is an assumption on my part. I bet it will work just dandy in a Mak with a .380 barrel.

I've used Wolf in my .380, my 9mm, my 7.62 x 39, my 7.62 x 54r and have never has an FTF or FTE. It tends to be a bitbut I clean after every range trip. Most indoor ranges won't allow steel cased ammo. I am not sure about its accuracy but for general use and if you want to shoot a lot on a budget, it works for me

I use 9mm wolf in my glocks, but not in some other guns. It is fine in an AK or mosin. Commie made ammo for commie guns is the saying.

The shield your friend got should be ok for limited use with the Wolf...but as was stated indoor ranges often nix it’s use because they hate having to cull steel cases from brass to sell.
.380 ammo has always been a bit on the high-side price wise so expect him to pay between $11.00 to $16.00 a box for brass ammo on sale... when he can find it. Coronageddon and weeks of civil unrest have made almost all ammo fly off the shelves. I haven’t seen it on sale in months, so if the Wolf is all he can find it’ll have to do.
Tell your friend good luck with the new pistol.
Stay safe.

Steel ammo in a 380, 9mm is fine range ammo. Actually better IMO than a lot of off the shelf stuff out there. What I really miss is when I was receiving 9mm delivered right to my door step for $6.44. That is the shipped price. Fortunately I bought thousands of rounds before the what ever you call it happened.

The shortage for a few years back, Tula was about the only ammo I could find. And since I am a shooter that loves shooting the 380, I shot a heck of a lot it out of a LCP. Really liked the ammo and it became my preferred choice. I always got excellent accuracy from it. Occasionally would have a hard primer strike, but other than that no problems.

Shot a lot of it in my Glock 42, the FMJ stuff, and it works, feeds, shoots just fine.

It’s never as accurate as better stuff. If you’re generally shooting silhouettes at 3 yards, that probably doesn’t matter. If you’re shooting at 15 yards, you will notice the difference.

That is not the case for me. I shoot the 380's at 15 yds very often and the 380 steel just as good or better than other range ammo. Maybe if you are shooting as a target gun, but I seldom if ever shoot the Pocket guns as bulls eye pistols. I also have not shot a 380 at 3yds in years, unless for some specific tactical training. That said, I have quite a bit of mixed ammo from all manufactures in 380 since the price came down,. But again, still buy the 9mm when ever I get the chance.
For total accuracy in fast shooting the PrecisionOne well out performed anything I have shot. I bought a lot of it in bulk. And carry the Plus P.

I was in Sportsman's Warehouse on Sunday and there wasn't a single box of pistol ammo left in the store. If Wolf 380's what you can get then buy it.

Well, there wasn't any Wolf when I looked just now so we got 90 gr. PMC brass. The ammo seems to be flying off the shelves, looks like I need to get more for myself as well. .... btw I am already fairly well stocked but you cannot have too much ammo ...

Wolf and other Russian ammo is >>perfect<< in my single-stack .380 Izhevsk Makarov, which is one of the commercial versions of the military Russian Makarov. Extremely, totally reliable ammo and handgun.

All 1,000 rds. of mostly Wolf and Tula etc .380 Auto seemed like the best ammo I've ever used. If you are Not using it for Carry ammo, is there any concern at the range or club?

For what it might be worth to guys also curious about 9x19 mm ('9mm Luger') Wolf, it never had a single glitch in my 100% German-made Sigs or CZ 'PCR'.

I had a lot of steel cased stuff, picked up inexpensively. Unfortunately, the indoor range i frequent does not allow it, their thought is it could start a fire from a spark from the steel bullets they use.

Now is the time to be selling, if you have it and can't use it, as I did. Just sold 1000 rounds of steel .223 and 500 rounds of steel 9mm.

As far as is the ammo OK? Goes bang every time.

I would use steel case in any firearm that is intended for self-defense. I refuse to use steel case in any carry gun. Just me it'll work. That's a fact. Hard on extractors. And I'm sure other parts. I use it in my AK and SKS.

In my experience Wolf is good to go. It’s generally weak, a bit dirty and stinks a bit, but it’s reliable ammo for range use. I’ve shot thousands of rounds of their 9mm and 223.

As far as wear and tear, I’ll buy a new extractor when I need it and pocket the difference until then. And if we’re being really honest, most people concerned about the wear and tear won’t shoot a gun enough to wear it out anyway, so it’s a moot point.

Guns can be weird when it comes to steel cased ammo like Winchester forged, wolf, or any of the other rusky companies (its all pretty much the same stuff). My Glocks eat it up like candy, as does my dad's Ruger SR-9. My S&W shield 9 wants nothing to do with it. Neither does Mrs. Fl-NC's Ruger LCP. Her 380 jams as often as it works with that stuff.
