Ok, so I was reading through the thread about ammo preferences, and several people stated that they would never, under any circumstances, use Wolf ammo. You know, the steel-cased stuff with the heavy lacquer. In other threads, folks have mentioned their dislike of Blazer aluminum cased ammo. People claim accelerated wear on extractors and chambers, excessive dirt, wear on ejectors, and a whole myriad of plagues.

So my question is this: In your actual experience - not conjecture, not opinion, not hearsay - but in your experiece, have you had something go wrong while using Wolf or Blazer ammo? Parts breakage? Guns stopping due to horrible fouling? Scratched breech faces?

Or, is it really ok for what it is, cheap ammo? You've fired a little or a lot of it, and yeah, it takes a few minutes extra to clean, but it works fine. You know it's not the most accurate, and don't use it for SHTF duties, but maybe you'll plink with it on the weekend.

I eagerly anticipate your responses. Vote early and often. :D

I have used both to plink with and have never had a problem. I look forward to seeing what the others have to say too. If the Wolf was so bad why has it been made for so many years and used in so many countries? Same goes for the Blazer, I really don't think an ammo company would sell a ammo that was going to destroy a persons gun, just my 2 cents. Might be that some just like the thought of brass since that's what were all used too. This might be a good topic since scrap prices keep going up!

I used some in my S&W Sigma 40VE. After 125 rounds or so, the laquer buildup started sticking cases, and a few more jammed one tight. I won't let it touch my M&P short of war. I'll use Wolf or Brown Bear all I can in my SKS.

Not enough choices!!:neener: :neener:

In my experience,

Wolf is fine.

CCI BRASS cased blazer is fine.

Aluninum cased blazer is fine in revolvers, but I wouldn't use it in autos.

I've used Blazer in all my hand guns with out problems. FIO, CCI is now putting out a good line of low cost brass ammo, Independence. In my Model 14 it's Match accurate. 130gr, flat tip, new brass.

If someone can afford to shoot enough wolf ammo to wear out any part of a gun that costs more than $5 to replace, they can certainly afford to buy a whole new gun.

The REAL Wolf and Blazer poll

Sorry, I screwed up the poll questions on the previous thread. So here it goes:

I shot a decent amount of Blazer & it's okay. Wolf --I've only shot a couple mags worth from buddy's handgun / rifle -- lots of failures to eject and failures to feed :barf: I wouldn't waste a penny on Wolf ammo. :barf:

I've NEVER had a problem with Wolf ammo in either my AKs, Makarovs, or my Beretta 92. I almost exclusively buy Wolf because 1) it's cheap 2) I know it always goes bang.

If the Wolf was so bad why has it been made for so many years and used in so many countries?

Great point. I believe it's gunshop commando talk and the lingering 80s "If it's communist, it must be junk mentality". One thing I particularly love about Wolf ammo is no matter what caliber I get in, I always feel like I'm getting the same quality bullet. Yes, I said it, I think Wolf Ammo is quality.

I've been through several thousand rounds of blazer 9mm and love it. Its cleaner than wwb and hasn't failed me yet. I don't plan on running steel cased ammo through my handguns though our of loving caution.

I've never fired any Wolf in anything but my Makarov, and it works fine there. Pretty darn accurate too. Would I in my other guns? I don't see why not, just nobody seems to carry it around here, so I shoot mostly WWB, Rem-UMC, American Eagle, and Blazer Brass. I figure if the soft steel the case is made out of hurts my gun, it was probably something wrong with it anyway.

Blazer Brass is good stuff. Never shot any of the aluminum cased stuff, again, because I never seem to see any. I do have one box of 45 Colt that I've had for years. Never shot the gun I bought it for.

I have one round of wolf bad out of several thousand rounds. It was in 2002 in a 45, I don't remember the exact problem but do remember I had to dismantle the gun(for the first time, and I was in a field with tall grass...no pressure there!) to fix it, but it did go bang before the problem occured. I was new to the gun and might have limp wristed it.
I've never had a problem with blazer.

I shoot them both all the time, but recently found some cheaper brass stuff imported from the UAE. I ordered it from Graf's or Wideners, I don't remember which, in case you're wondering.

It depends on what I'm shooting. Wolf through my SKS is perfect, but my CZ 527 has light primer strikes quite a bit with the Military Classic stuff.

I haven't seen Blazer aluminum in quite some time. Everything Blazer is now brass wherever I go. The brass works much better than WWB.

I haven't had any ammo-related problems with any of the cheap stuff yet. I'm sure my turn is coming.

I've fired countless rounds of both through various firearms that I own. Ar's, Beretta's, HK's, Glocks, etc and have never had the first problem. The biggest argument I ever hear about wolf is it's dirty. Who cares, clean your guns. lol

I don't really like Wolf and Blazer aluminum cases. I love CCI Blazer Brass in 9mm, Speer Lawman in .38 & .45ACP. Also Federal Hydra Shock in all Calibers and Remington in .357. I prefer Brass over Aluminum in either revolvers or semi-auto's.

i have used them both and they both go bang every time. put about 10k rounds of wolf though my sig and not so much as a jam.

Alum Blazer seems OK for me in various 9mm - no problems yet - never tried the Wolf though.

Only "knock' I have on Blazer AL cases...

In my very short-barrel Sherrif's model Vaquero .357, "Blazer" lives up to its name....most muzzle flash I have seen in a 158-Gr load out of that gun.

I shoot 10mm Blazer by the truckload, never had a problem.

I have used 1000 rounds or so of Blazer.44 Mag, no problems.
I have used 700-800 rounds of Blazer .38 Special, no problems
I have used 500 or so rounds of .45 Colt in Blazer, no problems
I have used 300-400 rounds of Blazer .380 Auto in a Bersa, no problems.

I've used Wolf (polymer coated) .223 in ARs since it came out - maybe 1500 rounds, no problems

I've used 200 rounds of Wolf .308 in my M14 and no problems, ordered more.

The whole argument is silly in my opinion.
