Wonder bra that stopped a bullet

Anyway, an attempt to stay on topic:

Sentencing Ambursley, Judge Richard Hone, QC, said: "You did in fact go out with a gun and a magazine with at least four bullets in it ...

I was under the impression that handguns are simply not allowed in the UK.

As near as matters. (The law prohibits guns with a barrel <30cm, or a total length < 60cm, and all semi-autos except shotguns and .22 rimfire rifles. "Long-barreled revolvers" are therefore still legal. I think there are also special exemptions for vets etc who may need one to put animals down.)

Is there some significance to a mag loaded with four or more rounds?

Not that I know of. Probably just brought up to demonstrate how many people he could have shot.

Wonder Bra Did NOT Stop Bullet

Did anyone think to ask how it was that if the Wonder Bra stopped the bullet, then how did the woman get shot in the breast?

The Wonder Bra did not stop the bullet, but supposedly only deflected it. However, I am not sure how it was that it was determined that the bra underwire actually deflected the round from her chest (torso) into her breast. My guess is that the trajectory was such that it wasn't going into the chest anyway or not at an angle that would have allowed for penetration to the organs. In other words, it was probably a glancing shot at best.

I have no doubt the underwire was hit and that the deflected round traveled into the breast, but I do doubt that anybody actually was able to determine that true original trajectory of the bullet relative to the woman's orientation.

And the prosecuter said...

... "She is more aware of people in the street and has a feeling of unsafeness. ...

1) This is a bad thing?
2) You mean she feels as if the police CAN'T protect her?

Why, she might even vote to let the public be able to defend themselves!! That's just not on!!

"Long barreled revolvers" :D I like that I think the federal definition of a rifle here, in terms of length is 16 inches for the barrel and 26 inches overall. which if I'm converting right is only a couple inches longer. It sounds like your "long barreled revolvers" are like Buffalo Bill Cody's pistol, with like a 12 inch barrel. Not much good for concealment, but a lot better for accuracy than what I think of as a "long barreled revolver" which is anything above a 4 inch barrel.

Those "long barreled revolvers" have to amount to a total of 60cm (24 inches) though, like iapetus said, so most of them sport a wire "wrist-brace" on the back, which looks like an old coat-hanger. Otherwise, they have to make up the length by either making it into a "revolver carbine", or by putting an even longer barrel on it!
At a range I visited a few years ago, they had a Ruger Super Redhawk with a barrel that must have been nearly twenty inches long! :what: You could just hold it two-handed, in a kind of Weaver stance, but the barrel wobbled around so much that it was a bit of a losing battle...
Never got to fire it, though - I was just there enquiring about joining the club and the place closed down a couple of months later. :(

have you ever seen the tiny thin piece of wire used in the underwire of a bra? You're lucky if they still make it out of metal these days...and it's so flimsy that I've broken more then one (and I'm not that large chested).....although between the excessive padding and those new water bras......I suppose anything is possible

I'd laugh if Victoria's Secret came out with an urban bra......

Laugh?

See? Now this is what I'm talking about. The Urban Assult Bra. Could come in evil black (mmmmm) kevlar finish. They could even do Urban Camo, etc.

Larger size, titanium underwires of course.

Safe could be sexy.

ok ok..I admit it...I'd probably buy one :) VS bras are the only ones that seem to last for longer then 30 days anymore....A kevlar bra you say....tempting...very tempting.....

Gangstas in England are such wimps, though.

Imagine -- Four bullets. This dude went out looking for a gunfight with FOUR whole bullets in his gun. My lord, in Newark they waste more than four just shooting up the neighborhood before they settle down to shooting each other.

You know if they just outlawed murder, and assault we'd be all set... oh wait they did.

MmmHmmm.

And please ... let's not forget the titanium underwires for, er ... ummm ...full protection.

Very chic. Very tactical.

I'm surprised that they actually blamed the GUNMAN rather than blaming the GUN. In such a bastion of gun control you would think that the gun would have been charged as the main suspect and the man that used it as its (the gun) accomplice.

If they made a kevlar bra, I'd buy one as a prank for one of my buddies. We have a history of that kinda thing though (one of my friends bought me a thong, and I bought her edible underwear).
