So today I take my father out to Clark Brothers in Warrenton Va to pick up a scope mount for his turkey gun, and while browsing the racks I find a 6" model 29.

Now some of you may know that I have been looking for a model 29 for quite some time and it never seemed to work out. Well I ask to see it, and I see that it is a pinned and recessed 6" 29-2 that appears unfired, I would easily rate it at 99% if not 100. It is in the wooden presentation box with the blue felt lining with all of the accessories; cleaning kit, screwdriver, and original paperwork.

I check it out and I honestly cannot tell that it as been fired. No cylinder ring, no blueing wear, locks up incredibly tight, the trigger is great. Serial N630XXX. When was this gun made??

Now to the price, I got it for $510.00

How do you guys think I did??

Oh by the way, I decided then and there to give it to the only person in this world that wanted one more than I did.....My father

I'm looking for one too. Have been for a couple years, but I've not been able to put one in my hand that was reasonably priced for the condition.

The price you got is certainly fair, and bordering on a great price. The presentation case would sell for $75 in a heartbeat and $100 if it is in near perfect shape, and the toolset will bring another $20 if unused. Complete in the box with all accessories adds value no matter what. I think you could have gone near $600 and still gotten a fair deal.

I feel the same way about my dad.

Your M29-2 is a 1980 model. The price is about average with the presentation case and tools as I have seen them. The revolver by itself would usually run around $450. The shorter barrel models and the "S" prefix models are bringing the premimum prices lately.

What a great find! ''All good things come to he who waits'' ... or something like that! :)

IMO that price was just fine ... you did well OK. I saw one at gun show very recently but ... no box, and it was not in that good shape ... forget exact price being asked but it was too much!

Congrats!

Glad you have found what you have wanted for a while. The same thing happened to me with both an S-Prefix model as well as an early 5 digit N-Prefix Model 29. The latter and later M29-2 was $550 NIB and around a 1972 Mfgr date......so I suppose I paid about the same as you....and I equally feel that I got a good deal considering the gun is 30 years old and almost never fired!

Have fun collecting......

One of the joys of life is giving guns to those we love.
