Just wanted to share the good news. ATF cashed my check within 36hours of the mailman picking it up from my house, then took 2 and a half weeks to deliver the license to me, but it finally came!! It says they will be sending me another package within 10 days that contains all the forms and "publications" I'll need to get started. Does this mean that I have to wait for the second package to start ordering old guns through the mail?

Now I've got to make a bunch of copies and mail/fax them off.

A question for other Crufflers; Where is the best place to order a Nagant revolver from? I've seen a half dozen distributors selling them for around $100 and want to order one immediately. Yes, it will be a shooter/plinker, I don't believe in owning guns I can't or shouldn't shoot. I realize that these guns are OLD and in varying condition, what I'm wondering is weather the hand select fee is worth it? If one particular company gave you outstanding cust. svc, shipping deal, or was otherwise excellent to work with. And also if there are any you would not do business with again and why.

Thanks
- J

I haven't personally purchased anything online but from what I've read here and on other forums AIM Surplus is very good. I had a question for them one day and they responded promptly. Like in under 24 hours promptly. So while I cannot attest to their products I can attest to their customer service.

I just got a really sweet 1941 K98k from Wideners.com, came in UPS last night. Added to my Yugo M24/47, and M/N 91/30 (1929). It can be addictive...the C&R. :>)

I've had much success with classicarms.us, as well. I did handpick on my M/N and got a beautiful piece that needed little cleaning to be exceptional. On the other hand the M24/47 was a hand pick and it was darn ugly when it came out of the box. I ended up stripping the wood and refinishing and the metal cleaned up pretty well, too. I was actually kind of upset that it was a hand pick...what did the rest of them look like if that was the best of 10!?!?!?

Tell your wife I'm sorry and my wife says she should go on the shopping spree now before the credit card is maxed out....

Oh and remember to order from the CMP too.
best of luck

I think a Mosin is the required first purchase...

Congrats on the C&R, I just got mine not too long ago as well. Ordered a 91/30 from Classic Arms and have to give them a thumbs up for sending me a good one, I can't find a thing to complain about on it!

No, you don't have to wait to start buying, just make your copies, put the unsigned original up for safekeeping and order! Buddy of mine just ordered the Nagant revolver from AIM and was happy as a pig in you-know-what with it. Great price, just under $100 and a good shooter. While you are waiting (anxiously) for it to get there, put together whatever you are using for a bound book and start trying to find ways to make more money, you will need it!

Funny you should say that, we were talking over breakfast and I had to give up my nagant money so she could go on a long planned shopping trip with her friend. I figured it wouldn't kill me to wait a little longer and she'll remember that gesture for a long time to come. I have 3 guns on my shopping list right now and she'll probably let me get 'em all much sooner since I gave one up. She knew how much it meant to me to get the nagant and I think she felt a little bad about taking the money even tho I offered it unsolicited
