Woodcock in Idaho?

We were hiking around in the Challis National Forest, near a lake, when we flushed out some birds that were on the ground, hiding in low vegetation. They flushed and flew like most game birds, and for all I could tell, they looked like woodcocks.

I didn't think there were any within 1000 miles.

Does anyone know?
