Well, it finally came, 41 days after I submitted my application :D. Now I get to join the ranks of the armed citizen. I am stoked! Until a few years ago, I didn't think I was mature enough to carry, had the old chip on the shoulder thing going on. But as of lately, I am able to put my ego aside, something I think necessary when carrying a weapon. I am carrying a G17 in a Don Hume clip on IWB holster. Seems to be working just fine. Thanks for everyone's encouragement!

We call them CPL's in my neck of the woods too. Concealed pistol license. Revolvers are OK too.

Congrats Andy. Here in Pensylvania we call it a LTCF. It will become second nature to carry. I often forget I have my gun with me when I'm changing in to my pj's.

It's not official until you do " The Wal-Mart Walk"

Haha, that made me laugh out loud. As soon as it came I showed my wife who promptly said, "Does this mean we need to go to Wal-mart?". :uhoh:

Thanks again fellas, it is a little strange at first, but I'm getting used to it.

Winter carry with the G17 seems to work just fine, but I think I might get a G26 for deeper carry. The full-size doesn't "print" (MI is an open carry state anyway), but I would like something a little more discrete. Not a big kool-aid drinker, but the 17 was my first pistol and it works well for what it is.;)

On that note my friend congratulated me on getting the license and then asked what I was carrying. I said "a Glock", he says "sweet, can I see it?". I said, "Man, if you've seen one, you've seen them all" :neener:.

They are neat guns, but I guess I need a colt or a kimber to feel proud  .

Just got my carry permit last week. Took about 5 months for me here in Texas. It's supposed to take 2 months maximum but a) the CCL office was understaffed, b) there was a 50% increase in people applying this year, and c) they contracted out the actual printing and the contractor had a crappy machine that was taking several passes to make one permit. Then Ike hit and the Gulf Coast put off doing background checks for a month or two. Typical government inefficiency.

The sad thing, I got laid off two days before I got my permit so getting a good carry rig is out of the question for the moment. Right now I'm carrying my Glock 26 in a Fobus paddle holster. Not exacly the eisiest setup to conceal.
