After about ten weeks, the BATFE sent me my tax stamp to put together an SBR. I plan on putting an LMT 10.5 upper on a Stag lower out fitted with a CMT LPK, CTR buttstock, MIAD grip with enhanced trigger guard. The upper will have a CMT charging handle, LMT FA BCG, Larue 7.0 rail, Larue EOtech mount, an EOtech 512 (F) and a A.R.M.S. #40 BUIS. I'm looking forward to getting it all together. Anyway, I wanted to let you all in on the news.

It'll be a while before I can post pics. I have everything except for the upper and CH but, I ordered that today. I'll still need to send the stripped lower off to Orion Arms to be engraved. They're backed up about two three weeks:eek:.

Congrats.

Anybody else thinkthe whole engraving requirement is just completely pointless, and is really just another hoop/expense to screw with people? I cant imagine what purpose it would serve, as if the gun gets stolen, the BATFE has all the details and serial on the gun from the paperwork sent in to make it, so I cant imagine the engraving is gonna help get it back.:barf:

Oh wait, my bad, I was trying to apply logic and common sense to a gun law again, and assuming a requirement served, or was ever intended to serve, any purpose at all. My mistake.
:D

I hope to SBR my Bushmaster M4 someday with a 10.5" bbl upper, and possibly a suppressor too (If I suppress, I may get the upper in 300 Whisper to make it as quiet as possible, and just reload all my ammo for it.)

Gee, if I only had a spare $1200 or for everthing plus the stupid tax....

The fact that it takes a couple of months made the cost of the whole project a little easier to swallow. I first sent off the 200.00 for the tax stamp and while I was waiting, I started to save up for the upper, CH and BCG as I had everything else. I agree the engraving is just one more hoop to jump through. I probably should have had it done while I was waiting but, I had too much on my plate to get around to sending it off.

Awesome. :)

(though I will never for the life of me understand wanting an AR shorter than 14-16". Now, an SBS 12 ga with a 10 incher, on the other hand.....)

The first time you handle a 10.5" AR with a suppressor, you will understand. :)

Congrats on the stamp. My new 5.56 can cleared last week, and I just ordered a factory SBR lower from Arizona Armory. Planning on similar specs as your rifle - what did you use for OAL on the Form 1?

I put 30.1" on the OAL. That's with the buttstock extended. I ended up using specs off of Stag Arms for the total length of their rifle. I then subtracted the differance in barrel length of the LMT upper from OAL on stag's website and came up with the length of the SBR.
