Would a Kimber Tactical Entry II make a good first 1911?

Just thought I'd give an update on this thread ... I had a lot of other purchases get in the way since July and missed out on the Kimber. However, my local friendly gun shop owner sent me an email a couple of days ago to tell me that he had two Kimber Tactical Entry IIs come in ... needless to say, he now has one!

I had to summon up what little self-control I have left to stop myself from buying a Kimber Pro Raptor II for the wife. Heck, who am I kidding, it'll probably be in the safe in a couple of weeks! Wifey wants some kind of fancy ring for our 20th (just passed) but maybe I'll surprise her with something she can actually use.

Many thanks to everyone for your help with this decision ... your advice and experience is much appreciated.

The last time I bought a semi-auto pistol was back in the late '90s ... a SIG P225. I guarantee it won't be 10 years before I buy another!

1858,

..."gunnie, it is fairly expensive, but according to the gun shop owner, it'd cost a lot more to buy a basic model and add all of the included features."...

you're preaching to the choir, here. love kimbers. don't see a lot of room for improvement from the high-end mfgrs.

What is the difference between Raptor models and Pro/Ultra models? What makes em so special?

Bought a Tactical Entry II last month. First 150 rounds.... 4 fte's. Last 300... none..... gun functions flawlessly. So much fun to shoot. Going for a Kimber 1911 in 9mm next.

TML, welcome to THR and congratulations on your TEII. I haven't put that many rounds through mine yet. I did discover that it doesn't like my 185gr SWC reloads but that's ok ... I have plenty of 200gr and 250gr RN bullets and my SIG 220 has no problem digesting the 185gr loads. I had a couple of FTFs with some Blazer 230gr TMJ ammunition but it's early days. I just bought a Kimber .22LR conversion kit last week. I decided to go with the brushed aluminum version so that I can tell at a glance which caliber is ready to go.

Here's my TEII.
