Would anyone actually participate in an SKS-AK "match"?

Given the dismal turnout for previous THR centerfire rifle postal matches (Me & Lionking) I'm starting this thread BEFORE I get a sticky in order to gauge the amount of participation we may have with an SKS match and possibly to work out some rules.

Here's what I'm thinking to make it easy on everyone

50yds
offhanded
paper plate
till July 4th

The two classes will only be for Handloads and factory ammo. Because of the universally craptastic nature of SKS scope mounts I don't feel the scoped guys will be at any kind of unfair advantage thus eliminating the need for a separate class.

What say the forum?

You are correct, my Yugo went from shooting touching groups at 50yrds to shooting 2" with a scope...what a waste!

How about including AK's too? I sold my SKS(s)

My rifle will be equipped with em, and I'll make the rules.

I could do that. Can you explain how using a paper plate would work? Yeah I'm slow sometimes.

The paper plate is something universal that everyone has handy that's a fairly standard size. It's also not something most folks already have a picture of with their once in a lifetime super duper best group EVER.

Or simply it's a little insurance that the group pictured was actually shot for purposes of the match

my range doesn't allow "non-target" items downrange... they dont even allow silhouette targets, i'll ask them & tell them its for a match, but if they dont allow it can i shot the groups in a simple target and write down the info " SKS Match, THR Member Sarduy" on the target?

OK after some deliberation I'll allow a non paper plate target in. IF

FIRST it's fired on a blank paper such as the back of a range approved target with a circle or outline of a paper plate thereon. Inside of this circle will be treated as a paper plate as per the rules I'll post later.

SECOND there's a paper plate somewhere in the pic of the submitted target
. That way you don't get out of buying some plates

I think I will. But seeing as AK scope mount's don't all suck they'll not compete directly against the SKS'es except for an overall winner. Instead the 2 AK classes will be optics and irons.....I just don't think handloads will play a big a factor with AK's

But this will be an all communist bloc match with reguards to caliber/ IE 7.62x39, 5.45x39 or even 7.62x54r for the PSL guy's
