Would choke tubes work on a 930SPX?

So I'm planning to pick up a Mossberg 930 SPX pistol grip shotgun for home defense purposes, and because of a sale at the gun store.

I'm inexperienced with shotgun hunting, but I might like to leave that option open, and the choke tubes Mossberg sells are easily within Christmas present range.

It says they've got tubes for the 930

However I'd rather not later find out that those only work on the "regular" 930 barrels.

Also, is it even reasonable to try and hunt most things with a 18 and a half inch barrel? Or, if I decided I want to try hunting, I should just poney up for a 28" barrel.

My 930 SPX did not come threaded for choke tubes.
If you can get your barrel threaded, the choke tubes
would make it more versatile.

Thanks for the info guys.

Though is there any reason you'd couldn't or wouldn't want to hunt with a RCO, reflex sight, or scope? I know I see tons of slug guns with scopes, and a reflex would seem like the sort of thing that would be good with birds.

Is there a downside to a pistol grip when hunting, or just a little extra cost and weight?

I put a Vortex Strikefire red dot, from another gun, onto my
930SPX just for fun. It gives an absolute cowitness with the
low mount. It should be great for HD and bear protection.
I don't know if it works for bird hunting, as I don't hunt them.
