my colt match target HBAR with cheap scope, aftermarket trigger, 5 mags, case, and 220 rds of cheap remington fmj, for a FN FAL. The FAL is assembled on a PAWS receiver, is all metric, comes with a bushnel scope, 5 mags, muzzle brake, also comes with the original flash suppressor and dust cover. The FAL is suppose to be in excellent shape, with only about 100 rds through it.

I can't find a website for PAWS, but he told me they're based out of Salem, OR. I know there's lots of problems with century FALs, but I haven't heard anything about other brands other than DSA. He said PAWS assembled it, so I don't know if that means it's just their receiver, with a foreign parts kit or what.

The guy is asking $1150 for his FAL.

With the ammo, I'm in for just over $1k for my AR now. It was more of an impulse/investment purchase than something I wanted, as I don't care for the heavy barrel, and I've really been wanting a .308 battle rifle for awhile, but I'm not sure if I want to get rid of the colt yet either.

Would my AR for his FAL be a fair deal for me? Is $1150 for his FAL a good deal? Anyone know about PAWS, and whether or not they make good stuff?

Is cheap .308 still usually in stock at walmart lately? I know 2 out of 3 stores I went to the other day (walmart/bi-mart) were out of cheap .223, but I didn't check on .308 since I don't have anything in that caliber yet.

If his gun is a good deal, I might just buy it and keep both of them, but I've spent way too much money on guns and ammo lately, and I feel guilty about continuing to buy stuff without selling other guns first.

I remember a sterling SMG type copy that was made by PAWS back in the late eighties and maybe early nineties. I have never heard of an FAL manufactured by PAWS. Maybe check over at the FAL Files for an answer on that one. Pictures would help.
I do know that I do not own any .223 rifles. I prefer most any rifle caliber beginning with 7.62. I thought however that Colt AR's demanded a premium price. Most FAL's start at a grand and go up to a couple thousand. Not all century's are garbage. I found my L1A1 back in 2006 for $399. It was quite beat up but it fired every time. It has since gone through a renovation. Prices on decent Centuries are now $650-$800.
As far as ammo is concerned, You have missed the boat on affordable surplus ammo. Reloading is your friend with large caliber battle rifles.
I say research the rifle hard before you agree to this trade. I think the person who has the FAL may be getting the better bargain here.
Just my two cents worth........
